E. coli warning expanded

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has expanded its E. coli warning regarding raw beef purchased at Kabul Farms on Beverley Hills Drive in North York to include all product purchased between July 8 and Aug. 6.

Originally, the warning was limited to beef bought on Aug. 6 only.

According to the food agency, all cuts of raw beef, including but not limited to tenderloin, beef chunks and ground beef could be affected.

The beef products were wrapped at the store for sale on demand, and may not bear a label indicating packing date, lot code, or a best before date.

The agency is advising consumers to check their home refrigerator or freezer if they have the affected beef products and to dispose of any suspect meat to avoid illness.

Consuming food contaminated with the E. coli bacteria may cause serious illness, including severe abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea. In some cases, the illness could be life-threatening.
