Filion's win a big one

Ward 23's incumbent defeats his nearest rival by over 11,000 votes

The Ward 23 councillor race was no real contest as long-time rep John Filion obliterated the competition bringing in over 65 percent of the ballots cast.

The incumbent beat his closest challenger, Dusan Kralik by over 11,000 votes.

Not surprisingly, Filion was pleased with the result.

“The support I got on Monday is very gratifying,” he said. “It’s basically saying, ‘Keep up the good work and continue on with what you’ve been doing.’ ”

Filion said he will be continuing with community-building including more community facilities and more consultation with residents.

“I’ll be restoring the kind of customer service and efficiency we had in the North York days.”
