Flippin' car causes minor injuries

What caused car to overturn in Yorkville garage unknown so far

An elderly man and woman were taken to hospital after a car flipped onto its roof in an underground parking lot in Yorkville today.

The incident occurred at 50 Cumberland St. around 10:50 a.m. on the main level of the underground garage. Reports say the car went off a ramp.

The man, 92, believed to be the driver of the car, was treated for minor injuries at the hospital, while the woman escaped injury.

“She was just shaken up,” said Constable Clint Stibbe with Traffic Services. Police taped off the area for several hours to investigate.

“At this point they haven’t determined why it rolled,” Stibbe said. “Driver error, or whatever the case may be, they’re still looking at that.”
