Fragedakis takes Ward 29
Former mayoral candidate Jane Pitfield finishes well behind
The Ward 29 race to replace Case Ootes wasn’t even close with Mary Fragedakis soundly defeating former councillor and mayoral candidate Jane Pitfield.
Fragedakis has 6,905 votes as compared to only 4,499 for Pitfield who is currently running second. Jennifer Wood placed third with 4,010 votes.
In 2006 Ootes came within 20 votes of losing his seat to the NDP-backed Diane Alexopoulos. Current candidate John Richardson came a distant fifth with 137 votes. Perhaps because of the close race the ward had an above average turnout with 43 percent of eligible voters casting ballots last time out.
