Girl, 3, uninjured in escalator mishap

Toddler had her sleeve stuck at St. Clair West station

A 3-year-old girl suffered no injuries after getting the sleeve of her jacket stuck in the escalator at St. Clair West subway station this afternoon.

The industrial rescue call came to Toronto Fire at 12:36 p.m. Early reports suggested the girl’s hand was caught, but only her sleeve was caught.

Crews worked for 40 minutes to free the girl, removing some panels from the escalator as well as cutting away her sleeve.

Streetcars bypassed the station during the ordeal and were allowed back in at 1:20 p.m.
