Hoskins rolls in St. Paul's

Liberals easily retain midtown seat

The Liberal stronghold of St. Paul’s has remained true to its nature by re-electing MPP Eric Hoskins.

As of 9:53 Hoskins has pulled in 58.1 percent of the vote, with Progressive Conservative Christine McGirr coming a distant second with 21.5 percent. The NDP’s David Hynes is running third with 15.8 percent.

Hoskins was first elected during a 2009 byelection which chose a successor to Michael Bryant who had held the riding for the Grits since it was created in 1999. Federally, the riding bucked the national trend by returning Liberal MP Carolyn Bennett to Ottawa amid the party’s collapse.
