Leaside masseur charged with sexual assault

A man performing massage has been charged with sexual assault as part of a police investigation at a Leaside spa.
Police said a woman contacted them on Jan. 12 after attending the spa on Laird Drive for a massage. During the treatment the man allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Douglas Christo Stephens, 56, was arrested the same day.
Stephens had been employed as a masseur at the spa since 2016, said police media relations officer Const. Allyson Douglas-Cook.
Police reported on Jan. 19 the sexual assault investigation at the spa is ongoing.
So far “there is nothing to indicate there have been other victims,” Douglas-Cook said.
Stephens is to appear in court on Feb. 22.
