Leaside streets closed for police manhunt

Leaside was the scene of a manhunt on Sept. 21 as police sought a male, 22, who was considered armed and dangerous.

The search began after 12:40 p.m. when Toronto police stopped a vehicle and noted one of the occupants may have had a gun. The vehicle took off, followed by police, until it struck a streetlight near Eglinton Avenue East and Rumsey Road, police said.

The driver reportedly then fled on foot.

Police closed roads in Leaside and North Leaside intersecting with Eglinton, including Hanna Road, Sutherland Drive and Rumsey.

Police said they were seeking the man for 12 offences including possession of a loaded regulated firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

The man, identified as Kyle Rouse, was described as six feet, weighing 150 pounds and having a shaved head. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and grey pants.
