Local school wins world robotics championship
Bayview Glen's Ctrl-Z tops internationally at St. Louis tournament
Five students from Bayview Glen can call themselves world champions.
Under the moniker Ctrl-Z, the robotics team took home the top prize from the First Lego League championship in St. Louis in late April.
The competition challenges students to build a mobile robot using Lego blocks, and then complete various tasks. The research component was the competition won by Ctrl-Z.
Alex Alexiev, Chris Alexiev, Emily Liu, Rachel Low and Alex Mark came out on top, besting 104 other teams from 37 countries. Leading up to the finals, more than 25,000 teams competed internationally, which included about 250,000 students.
