Man, 35, charged with murder after 59-year-old dies of injuries

Toronto police have arrested a man, 35, for murder after a 59-year-old man died of injuries received in an assault at Bathurst and Nina streets two days earlier.

The arrest took place Feb. 28 afternoon.

Police had earlier said they were taking out a Canada-wide warrant for the man’s arrest on that day. They released the suspect’s picture but had warned he was considered violent and should not be approached by the public.

Just before midnight on Feb. 26 police had responded to a report of an assault and found a man with obvious trauma. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

The victim was identified as Terrance Coughlin, 59, of Toronto.

Curtis Ashley Wheatley of Toronto faces a charge of first-degree murder.

He was to appear in court on Mar. 1.
