Man dies in Allenby crash

A 36-year-old man was killed after he drove through a stop sign, and struck a vehicle and a tree, police say.

The crash occurred just after 9 a.m. on April 8 when the 36-year-old man was driving his 2005 Honda eastbound on St. Clements Avenue approaching Caldow Road, according to police.

Investigators say the man drove through a stop sign, striking a northbound 1998 Nissan Maxima driven by a 60-year-old man. The Honda continued until leaving the roadway and striking a tree.

The 36-year-old man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

This was the 20th fatal collision on Toronto roads in 2016.
