Man injured confronting pair after bag stolen

A man suffered major injuries after confronting two people about the alleged stealing of a bag from a restaurant near Spadina Avenue and College Street on Dec. 30.

On Jan. 22 police released security camera images of a man and woman being sought in connection with the theft and assault.

Police report that at about 11:55 p.m. the man was in a restaurant when he realized anĀ an unknown man and woman, also in the restaurant, had left and taken a bag he had with him.

When the man left the restaurant and confronted the pair, he was assaulted by them, and sustained major injuries to his face, police say.

The man and woman were last seen fleeing southbound on Spadina, then westbound on Oxford Street.

Police are seeking a male described as 25 to 27, 5-foot-8, and having an average build, brown eyes, and black hair worn in a bun. He was wearing a brown hooded jacket and dark jeans, and was carrying a green LCBO bag.

The female is described as 25 to 35, 5-foot-7, and having stocky build and long blonde-brown hair. She was last seen wearing a long grey winter jacket, dark pants, black shoes.
