Man whipped during robbery
A man received minor injuries after he was whipped and robbed during an early morning swarming near Don Mills Rd. on July 28.
At about 3 a.m. five men exited a vehicle and approached the man, police say. One of the men grabbed him, demanding cash. A second man then produced a cable and began to whip the victim numerous times.
The victim was then pushed to the ground, police say, as the suspects stole a bag containing a cell phone, identification, reading glasses, keys and cash. The suspects fled the scene in a red mini van.
Teen mugged at basketball game
A teen was robbed during a game of basketball with friends on July 25. The 13-year-old was in the area of Don Mills Rd. and The Donway East at 9 p.m. when two men approached and demanded cash, police say. The men reportedly grabbed the teen’s belongings from the ground. No one was hurt.
