Matlow takes St. Paul's

Former school trustee had early lead in hot Ward 22 race

Ward 22 residents, Josh Matlow is your new councillor-elect.

The outspoken (and now former) school board trustee grabbed 52 percent of the vote, while Chris Sellors, former executive assistant to retiring Councillor Michael Walker trailed with 35 percent of the vote.

This race was expected to be hotly contested after the retirement of long-time councillor Michael Walker and the quality of candidates it attracted.

In 2006 Walker was easily re-elected taking 78 percent of the vote and beating his nearest challenger Rob Newman by over 9,000 votes. Only 42 percent of eligible voters cast their ballot in Ward 22 in the last election.
