Matlow turning spring cleaning into a beautiful fling

June 4 is Community Environment Day in Ward 22

Midtown families who find themselves awash in spring cleaning are invited to bring their used clothes, broken computers, toxic materials and other assorted detritus to Josh Matlow’s Community Environment Day on Thursday, June 4.

The event will be held in the North Toronto Memorial Arena at 174 Orchard View Blvd. between 4 and 8 p.m.

“It’s a day to empty out your closet, garage or basement and, in a safely and environmentally sound way, dispose of the kind of things that have been collecting in your home for a long time,” the Ward 22 councillor said. “It always becomes a bit of a community event too.

“It’s a great way to connect with neighbours and friends.”

In addition to providing an environmentally friendly way of throwing out environmentally unfriendly products such as batteries, light bulbs, computers and paint, the event will let residents dispose of unwanted art supplies, books, toys and used equipment. Replacement green bins will also be available.

“I’ve seen people come on their bikes with a huge trailer attached carrying tons of stuff,” Matlow said. “It’s really appreciated.”
