Michael Coteau takes Don Valley East

Liberals hold David Caplan's old seat

It looks like Don Valley East will stay Liberal red after Toronto District School Board Trustee Michael Coteau held off a challenge from Progressive Conservative Michael Lende.

As of 9:38 p.m., Coteau had taken 50.8 percent of the vote, compared with Lende’s 23.9 percent. The NDP’s Robert Hillard is currently in third place with 21.9 percent of the ballots.

This was a riding that many had suspected might go to the PCs owing both to the retirement of Liberal MPP David Caplan and the victory of Conservative Joe Daniel over Liberal incumbent Yasmin Ratansi in May’s federal election.
