Michael Prue keeps Beaches–East York

The riding of Beaches–East York remains in NDP hands.

Incumbent Michael Prue, who has been MPP since 2001, took care of business by holding off his Liberal rival Helen Burstyn.

As of 10:14, Prue was polling 47.4 percent of the vote to Burstyn’s 35.7 percent. Progressive Conservative Chris Menary attracted 13.6 percent.

Beaches–East York has been an NDP bastion since it was created in 1999 and has never sent a representative of another party to Queen’s Park. In May’s federal election long-lime Liberal MP Maria Minna lost her seat to the NDP’s Matthew Kellway.
