New fire hall for Chaplin Crescent

A derelict municipal building on Chaplin Crescent was recently demolished to make way for a new fire station.

Toronto Fire acquired the property at 325 Chaplin Cres. several years ago for the purpose of re-locating Fire Station 135, otherwise known as the Chaplin Fire Station. That hall is currently located in a historic building at 641 Eglinton Avenue West. According to officials, a new station is required because the current station is aging and structurally unsound.

The new fire hall is expected to cost $4.9 million. Shovels are expected to be in the ground in May or June, with an estimated complete date of May 2013.
