Police seek help in assault, possible kidnapping

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a woman who may have been the victim of an assault and kidnapping near Yonge Street and York Mills Road Friday morning.

Police received a call at 8:15 a.m. on Jan. 8 alerting them to an incident in which a woman had been walking west along York Mills toward Yonge when a gold-coloured car, possible a Nissan, made a sudden stop in a driveway in front of her.

A man reportedly got out of the car, assaulted the woman, and forced her into the backseat. The car then drove away and was last seen near York Mills and Avenue roads. The vehicle had the licence plate BXBY 832.

The woman is described as Asian and in her 20s. She was wearing a black hooded coat and blue jeans.

The man is described as Asian and in his 50s. He was wearing a grey sweatshirt.

Police say the relationship between the man and woman, as well as the woman’s injuries, are unknown.
