Police seek help in Riverdale sex case
[font=Verdana][size=8pt]Police are looking for a citizen who trailed a suspect following a sexual assault in Riverdale this past Saturday.
The incident occurred as a 16-year-old girl was walking in the Harcourt and Pape area around 11:30 p.m. The assailant approached the two from behind and grabbed the girl, attempting to take her to the ground, police say.
The girl was able to fight the man off, police say, and a citizen then followed the perpetrator as he fled toward a vehicle in the Danforth and Pape area.
Police are asking that the unidentified citizen contact Detective Lisa Kurts at 55 Division’s Sex Crimes Unit at 416-808-7474. Police are also looking for the suspect, who is described as a black man with a light complexion, in his 20s, with a thin-to-medium build, about 5’9’’. He was wearing a white t-shirt and faded blue jeans and wore his hair in a short, puffy ponytail.
