Power's out in North York

Residents left in the cold as crews respond to locked out circuits overnight

Residents in North York and Etobicoke have been left without power on a cold night in Toronto.

Toronto Hydro is reporting a power outage in an area bounded by Finch Avenue, Don Mills Road, Sheppard Avenue and Victoria Park Avenue.

To get power restored, crews are responding to two locked out circuits in the area, an automated message on Toronto Hydro’s reporting hotline states.

Residents in townhouse complexes on Centennial Park Road and Renforth Drive (near Rathburn Road) in Etobicoke have also been affected by a power outage caused by an underground fault feeding the complexes. Crews are working to locate the fault.

Hopefully, crews are able to get power restored quickly. The Weather Network is currently reporting overnight temperatures at -14C, but with the wind chill it feels like -22C.
