Six youth charged in robbery

Three 16-year-olds and three 17-year-olds are facing a total of 18 charges in connection with the robbery of a business in Thorncliffe Park.

Police made the arrests on Sept. 25 following their investigation, which led them to Toronto homes, according to a press release.

The robbery took place at about 11 p.m. on Sept. 17, when police say six males entered a business in Thorncliffe Park.
Some had their faces covered, while three were armed with handguns.

The accused took money from the victim before fleeing the scene, according to police.

Police executed search warrants at homes, where they seized cash and two imitation firearms.

Due to their ages, the accused cannot be named.

All six have been charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, robbery while armed with a firearm, and forcible confinement.

Robbery warnings
Toronto Police warned the public last month about an increased number of armed robberies on Eglinton between Yonge and Bayview.

In a news release, police said there have been seven cases between Aug. 3 and Sept. 9.

Victims are being robbed of cash and their cellphones.

Incidents all occurred between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m., and have involved three men, one of whom is armed with a large knife.

Police say the robberies have been occurring near the Eglinton and Bayview intersection and at Eglinton Park, which is near Oriole Parkway west of Yonge.
