Social awareness adds up at The Linden School fair
Students use their math skills tackle social justice issues
Elementary-age girls at The Linden School can take on social justice issues without getting out of bedmas.
Students in Grades 1–8 at the Rosehill Avenue all-girls school, near Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue, displayed their social justice-based math projects during the Social Justice Data Fair in the school gymnasium Nov. 20.
Grade 5 and 6 teacher Beth Alexander said the projects were done either by individuals, pairs, groups or as a class, and were meant to have the students “use their math skills to approach a social justice issue.”
Topics included media fairness, animal rights and local produce, among others.
