Speak out at town hall

[attach]3481[/attach]Our upcoming All-Politicians Town Hall will be a great opportunity to discuss current issues.

Whether your concern or question is provincial, federal, municipal or school-related, your Don Valley West representatives will be there to discuss them with you in an open forum.

From conversations with my constituents, three areas of concern often raised are employment, transit and health care.

While 96 percent of jobs lost during the recession have been recovered, there are still many people in Don Valley West who are in need of work.

I’m excited about the recent addition of Skills for Change to our community. This is a government-funded employment agency that recently opened at 10 Gateway Blvd. with excellent facilities to help residents acquire work.

On transit, we are continuing to make progress in developing the Eglinton LRT (Light Rail Transit). We are working with the city to discuss how we can proceed with the development of a great transit system for Toronto.

I remain committed to building a wide-reaching transit system that can accommodate our increasing population in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

With an aging population, health care is also an ongoing focus. We have made significant investments in health care, one recent example being at Sunnybrook Hospital where a revolutionary MRI-guided, focused ultrasound imaging centre was opened last November.

We can discuss these and any other issues at the town hall.

MP Rob Oliphant, Councillors Jaye Robinson (Ward 25) and John Parker (Ward 26), Public School Trustee Gerri Gershon and French Public School Trustee Francois Guerin will be there.
