Cougars blanked by Central Tech

Marc Garneau CI’s football season got off to a rough start at Central Tech: the Cougars were upended 38-0.

Scoring touchdowns for the Blues were Alyx McMillan, Jordan Morris, Marcus Paris, Jermal Boreland and Abe Shah, while kicker Jason Combra tallied a field goal and five converts.

The Cougars’ next game is on the road against the North Toronto Norsemen Oct. 1.

Branksome Hall field hockey on fire

Branksome Hall’s senior girls field hockey squad is undefeated after two division 2 games.

After starting the season with a 1-1 draw with Bishop Strachan School Sept. 24, Branksome walloped Trinity College 5-0 the next day.

Scoring for the Highlanders was Kirsten Morson, Claire O’Neil, Rebecca Eilfort, Victoria Stephens and Bonnie Stevenson. Grabbing the shutout was Sarah Beattie.

Lions tamed by Lancers

The Leaside High School Lancers junior and senior boys soccer teams both notched victories at home against the Monarch Park Collegiate Lions Sept. 28.

In the first game, the junior Lancers netted four goals to the Lions’ one, while the senior team won 2-0.

Both Leaside squads hosted the Danforth Hawks on Sept. 30. Results were not known at press time.
