Lions on the prowl

George S. Henry Lions had their claws out playing Northview Heights Phoenix winning 34-14 in senior girls basketball.

Beata Dye led the Lions’ pride on the court with 12 points while Yna Tablate had 8 for Northview’s losing cause.

The Lions looked to maul Sir Sanford Fleming Academy on Oct. 7. Results were not known at press time.

Battle of the two Mills tight

Don Mills CI out-muscled their archrivals, York Mills Titans, in exhibition basketball play Oct. 1.

Leading the way for the Bruins was Karmealia Turner with 10 points, while the Titans’ Erin Bussin chipped in 9 points in the loss.

The Bruins look to start off the senior girlsseason with a win against A.Y. Jackson Jaguars while York Mills hosts Victoria Park Panthers Oct. 8.

George S. Academy volleyball hopes dashed

The Lions find themselves lagging behind the pride after two losses in boys senior volleyball.

George S. Academy dropped a close first match to A.Y. Jackson Jaguars Sept. 30 2-0 (25-22, 25-20), and then lost to Victoria Park Panthers 2-0 (25-12, 25-17) in north region play Oct. 1.

The team looked to redeem themselves Oct. 5 and 6 in matches against Newtonbrook and Earl Haig Haigmen respectively. Results were not known at press time.
