TDSSAA football heats up in midtown as playoffs near

[attach]841[/attach]With three games on the season, last year’s TDSSAA champs Northern Red Knights sit atop the South’s A pool undefeated at 3-0, after beating Central Tech Blues 38-7, Oct. 8. They beat Lawrence Park Panthers 29-0 Sept. 25.

Scoring touchdowns for Northern were Devante O’Conner with two, Peter Forte, Nick Ganas, Kadeem Stephenson. Walker Monroe had five converts and a field goal.

In the South’s B pool, Leaside Lancers share a 2-1 record with Central Tech as the two teams jockey for position above 1-2 Lawrence Park and North Toronto Norsemen.

The Lancers are coming off a 10-2 victory over East York Goliaths, while North Toronto was overpowered by Humberside Huskies 22-3.
Andrew Canejo, Luke O’Connor and Ian Hanecak had touchdowns, Theo Smith-Grant had a safety and Chris Castelan chipped in with two converts. Kyle Wright had the lone field goal for the Norsemen.

Midtown football is about to get more exciting as the season turns into the playoffs Oct. 29, and the TDSSAA Tier I City Championship Final Nov. 13 at Centennial Stadium.

The next few regular season games include Humberside Huskies battling the Panthers Oct. 14, results were not known at press time; East York Goliaths hosting Northern Oct. 15; North Toronto sees Northern Oct. 16 and Forest Hill Falcons travel to Weston to face the Ironmen Oct. 21.
