Vikings lose tight one to Eagles

Georges Vanier was in tight against the Emery Eagles in senior girls basketball Oct. 5.

The Vikings lost their first game of the season 43-31 but not without getting standout performances from Nicolette Stokoe and Niya St. Amant, scoring 5 points each.

Kayda Higgins collected 13 points for the Eagles.

Vanier’s next match was scheduled for Oct. 7 against the Newtonbrook North Stars. The result was a 57-26 loss.

Phoenix rising in volleyball

Northview Heights Secondary School is burning up the boys senior volleyball league.

The Phoenix won 2-1 (9-25, 25-22, 15-11) over York Mills Titans Oct. 5 after a slow start. On Sept. 30 they won 2-0 (25-14, 25-12) against C.W. Jefferys Saints.

Next on tap was Westview Centennial Oct. 7. The Phoenix notched another victory 2-0 (25-11, 25-18).

North Stars burned

Newtonbrook North Stars were bounced by Don Bosco Eagles 50-0 dropping their record to 0-2 on the Tier 1 football season.

On Sept. 24 they lost to Henry Carr, but looked to redeem themselves against another winless team, Forest Hill Falcons, Oct. 7. They won a tight game 13-6.
