Stintz approves of majority

Mayoral hopeful and former TTC chair Karen Stintz says a provincial Liberal majority is good news for Toronto’s ongoing transit projects.

“With the Liberal government, I know that the transit plans that have been funded and approved will get built,” she said. “And for me, it ends the debate on the Scarborough subway and allows us to move forward on the downtown relief line.”

The current Ward 16 councillor said the results of the provincial election, which defied polling figures, also bore more positive news for her in the race for mayor, where she has expressed dissatisfaction with her low numbers (4 percent) in popularity polls.

“My only takeaway is that polls are not a very good predictor of who’s going to win elections,” she remarked.
