Teen facing 11 gun and drug charges

[attach]6325[/attach]A 15-year-old boy is facing a series of charges after being found to have both a loaded gun and drugs on him.

In a news release, police said they stopped the teen, who was riding an eBike, due to a Highway Traffic Act infraction at about 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 13 near Dundas Street W. and Scarlett Road.

While police were investigating, they found the boy to be in possession of a loaded .357 Magnum pistol, crack cocaine and marijuana.

The boy is facing 11 charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of marijuana and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The boy’s identity can not be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Man facing attempted murder charge after axe attack
A man has been charged with attempted murder after police say he assaulted another man several times with an axe.

In a news release, police said the attack took place at 8:50 a.m. on Aug. 10 near Dundas Street and Bloor Street W.

Police later said the attack was a landlord-tenant dispute, in which the landlord was attempting to collect rent and was assaulted.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was later arrested and charged with attempted murder.

Charged is 64-year-old Rallin Edward Lawes.

It was later reported that Lawes has a history of mental illness, and as a result of that had been found not criminally responsible for murdering his roommate with a machete in the early 1990s.

Converted starter’s pistol seized in drug bust
A drug investigation in the Junction led police to the seizure of drugs and a starter’s pistol that had been converted to a legitimate firearm.

Police said they were investigating a home in the Dundas Street W. and Quebec Avenue area that they believed was involved in illegal drug trafficking.

While executing a search warrant on the property, police found marijuana, hash, and the silver Zoracki starter’s pistol that had been made functional.

Twenty-two-year-old Lucas Sivell was arrested and is facing 10 charges including possession of a firearm obtained by the commission of an offence, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana and hashish for the purpose of trafficking.

Sivell was scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 11.
