Tory picks Burnside in Ward 26

Former Ontario Progressive Conservative leader and mayoral candidate John Tory has announced his support of Jon Burnside in the Ward 26 council race.
“We need a breath of fresh air at city hall and Jon Burnside is the right candidate to deliver that change for the residents of Ward 26,” said Tory at an Oct. 16 press conference with the candidate. “Jon has my full support.”
For his part Burnside was pleased with Tory’s endorsement.
“It is an honour to receive such strong support from someone as respected and connected to the needs of Toronto as John Tory,” he said.
Ward 26 is expected to be a close race with many thinking that incumbent John Parker could be upset by either Burnside or Mohamed Dhanani. In 2006 Dhanani lost a squeaker to Parker by just over 200 votes.
