Two nabbed in Yonge-Eg armed robbery

Police have arrested two men in connection with the armed robbery of a jewellery store near Yonge and Eglinton almost a year and a half ago.

Two men entered the store May 1 last year, with one of them pointing a shotgun at employees. He racked the gun twice, police say, and ordered the workers to their knees.

The man then used the butt of the gun to break display cases, while the other man took jewellery and loaded it into a duffle bag.

On Nov. 13 police arrested 27-year-old Nilan Mathias and 21-year-old Andrel Velvet, both from Hamilton.

They have each been charged with robbery with a firearm and disguise with intent. They appeared in court that day.
