Woman in hospital after Ridelle Avenue incident

A woman in her 60s is at Sunnybrook hospital in grave condition, and a man in custody following a domestic incident near Eglinton Avenue and Allen Road at around 10:30 a.m. this morning.

Citing an ongoing investigation, police at 13 Division remained tight-lipped about what transpired between the woman and man in an apartment unit at 360 Ridelle Avenue. Detective Ira Hill did, however, say the incident did not involve a stabbing, as previously reported by other media outlets.

“I have no idea where the press got that,” Hill said. “ I really don’t.”

One man is in custody.

Reports have indicated that the man in custody is the son of the injured woman. Although the detective would not go so far as to confirm that, he did say the woman knows the man.

“They definitely knew each other,” Hill said.

News reports also indicated a baby was in the unit at the time of the incident, but Hill said that is also not the case. Only the two people involved were present at the time, he said.

Those with information regarding this case are asked to contact police at 416-808-1300 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
