An 82-year-old woman has died after being struck by a dump truck while she was crossing Danforth Avenue in a wheelchair yesterday afternoon, police report.
The woman was using a crosswalk to cross north from the southeast corner of Danforth Avenue and Main Street at about 3 p.m., according to police.
A man, 53, was reportedly driving a dump truck northbound on Main when he turned right at Danforth Ave and struck the woman in the wheelchair.
Police and paramedics responded to reports of a person in a wheelchair being struck by a truck and found the woman with serious injuries.
She was pronounced dead on the scene, police said in an online message.

Local roads — including Danforth, Main, Westlake Avenue and Gerrard Street East — were closed for up to five hours for the investigation.
The investigation by Traffic Services is continuing. Anyone with security or dash camera footage of the area or incident is asked to contact investigators.
