Bennett launches holiday Indigenous Reads at bookstore

Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations Carolyn Bennett launched the Holiday Indigenous Reads Campaign before some very young readers at a local bookstore on Sunday morning.

Bennett, who is also MP for Toronto-St. Paul’s, read Shi-shi-etko, a story by by Aboriginal writer Nicola I. Campbell to kids at Mabel’s Fables Bookstore on Mt. Pleasant Road.

This is the second holiday campaign, which is is intended to encourage reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples by sharing Indigenous literature.

Through the campaign, Bennett is sharing 16 books by Indigenous authors for children and young adult books.
