Local man charged with attempted murder after latest East York stabbing

A 22-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder three days after a stabbing near Danforth and Greenwood avenues.

It was the fourth arrest in a spate of three stabbings over a two-week period in East York.

Police responded to a call on March 14 shortly before 2 a.m. on Danforth Avenue to find a man bleeding from stab wounds. He was moving in and out of consciousness and was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

A man had attended the address of another male where he produced a large knife and stabbed the victim several times, according to police.

The man reportedly fled the scene on foot. He was described as white, 5-foot-9, wearing a royal blue shell jacket with a baseball cap and was seen fleeing in the company of a white female.

As a result of an investigation by the 54 Division major crime unit, a man was arrested March 17. He is described by media spokesperson Const. Caroline de Kloet as being from the area.

Adam Bryan James MacDougall, 22, has been charged with attempted murder. He appeared in court by video remand on March 21.

Police had earlier arrested two teenaged boys for the stabbing of 16-year-old student at Coxwell and Cosburn avenues on Feb. 28.

They also charged a 15-year-old boy with attempted murder and robbery after the stabbing of a 23-year-old man near Secord and Newman avenues on March 10.
