Pair nabbed for string of B&Es

Police have arrested two individuals believed responsible for a slew of local residential break-and-enters dating back to 2009.

On April 5, police arrested Diane Grise, 53 and Charles Craig, 37 at a Victoria Park Avenue and Gerrard Street East residence. About $250,000 worth of stolen property was seized from the residence, said Detective Terry Wray of 55 Division.

The seized property included jewellery, a substantial coin collection, bicycles, electronic equipment and power tools.

At the time of their arrest, police had been investigating the latest round of break and enters in the area after eight were reported on the weekend alone, Wray said.

A surveillance camera at a local retail business was able to identify one of the suspects.

Grise and Craig are facing 57 charges, including several counts for breaking and entering, possession of stolen property, and fraud.

The two are repeat offenders and have been known the police for a while, Wray said.

“The investigation is continuing,” Wray said Thursday morning. “It is anticipated that further charges will be laid.”
