Get updates on Crosstown construction across Leaside

As construction of the future Crosstown LRT along Eglinton Avenue intensifies, literally shaking the foundations of homes and potentially increasing the number of accidents in the area, developer Metrolinx is stepping up its outreach efforts to make sure residents know exactly what is happening in their neighbourhoods.

Soon the organization will be inviting midtown residents to sign up on the Crosstown website to receive geo-targeted, station-based updates regarding construction in their neighbourhoods.

“We’re always happy to add another feature to our existing resident communications,” Crosstown spokesperson Vanessa Barrasa told the Town Crier. “The new geo-targeted option on emails will allow residents to receive the tailored information that best meets their needs.”

While Metrolinx has been sending monthly updates since 2014 to residents who subscribe to its email list, Barrasa said the new geo-targeting feature allows them to receive more detailed information by choosing the stations they’re most interested in.

Currently the organization’s email update list has more than 4,000 subscribers, Barrasa said. Metrolinx also runs door-to-door and mailing campaigns regarding the Crosstown, along with pages on a variety of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr.
