North York General Hospital staffer accused of sexual assaulting patients during surgical procedures

Investigators are appealing for information after a North York General Hospital anesthesiologist was charged with sexual assaulting three patients during surgical procedures.

George Doodnaught, 61, was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual assault. He’s been an anesthesiologist since 1981 and has worked at the Leslie Street hospital for the past 28 years.

An investigation into the matter began in mid-February. Police say three women reported being sexually assaulted while under anesthetic and undergoing surgical procedures in hospital.

The incidents are alleged to have taken place between August 2007, and February 2010.

The accused also worked at a number of other facilities in the Greater Toronto Area.

Investigators are working with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario to determine if there are any other victims.
