Productive summer in Ward 25 as several parks see renovations
Like student achievers who prepare for September by reading next year’s textbook in advance, the parks and recreation staff who serve Ward 25 remained busy throughout the summer, Ward 25 Councillor Jaye Robinson said — all the better to ensure the neighbourhood’s parks look their best in the fall.
In Irving Paisley Park at 2539A Bayview Ave., the well-used basketball court behind the York Mills Arena is now sporting brand-new nets, backboards and posts.
Sunnybrook Park, at 1132 Leslie St., is now connected to Serena Gundy Park, at 58 Rykert Cres., via a new and improved bridge.
The revitalization of the Yonge and Lawrence playground behind Locke Library continued behind the scenes, with the Toronto Region Conservation Authority now reviewing the updated playground’s final design to ensure that it will fit the park’s natural setting.
“These improvements are great news for Ward 25,” Robinson said. “Big or small, we’re bringing real improvements to our neighbourhood parks and green spaces.”
Playground improvements will also be coming next year to both Mossgrove Park, at 57 Mossgrove Trail, and Lord Seaton Park, at 168 Upper Canada Dr., Robinson said. Residents will have the opportunity to give their input at a pair of yet-to-be-scheduled public meetings.
