The High Park Braves 12-year-old baseball team is one step closer to the Little League World Series.

A 12–3 victory over Windsor-based LaSalle Turtle Club on July 30 clinched the provincial Major title for the Braves for the second year in a row.

The provincial tournament, hosted by Carlingwood-Frank Ryan baseball club in Ottawa, featured nine baseball clubs from across the province.

High Park, the District 1 champions, won every game, beating East Nepean, Brockville, Timmins LaRonde and LaSalle Turtle Club baseball clubs. High Park also claimed the Major District 1 in undefeated fashion.

With the win, High Park now qualifies for the Canadian region tournament in Edmonton, which begins Aug. 4.

High Park will face Vancouver’s Hastings Community baseball club to open the tournament.

This tournament will also feature Lethbridge’s Southwest club, Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grace club and Edmonton’s Millwood baseball club.

The winner will earn a spot at the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania later in August.

If they win, it will be High Park’s first appearance at the Little League World Series since 2000.
