Victim identified, alleged Danforth shooter arrested
Police have identified the victim and the alleged shooter in this morning’s homicide on Danforth Avenue.
Officers found a man on the ground with obvious trauma after responding to a call about a shooting near Danforth and Langford avenues at about 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 22, police say.
Danny Morales, 35, of Toronto was pronounced dead at the scene.
After witnesses provided suspect descriptions, a man was arrested a short time later in the area by uniformed officers.
Jorge Jose, 27, of Toronto, has been charged with second-degree murder. He appeared in court today at 2 p.m.
It was Toronto’s 64th homicide of the year, nearly equalling the total number of murders in 2017, which was 65 or 66, according to police figures.
