Feb. 22: Joy Lapps-Lewis performs and teaches steelpan
Introduction to instrument marks Black History Month at Locke library
In honour of Black History Month, composer and arts educator Joy Lapps-Lewis is performing From Skin to Steel and Beyond. Learn about the musical instrument known as the steelpan, its history and its present cultural and social contributions to communities locally and around the world.
The program is suitable for adults, pre-schoolers, school-age children and teens and will be held on Feb. 22 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the Locke library branch at 3083 Yonge St.
