Midtown sexual assaults result in Bracebridge arrest

Peel police charge man after alleged incidents in Davisville, Mt. Pleasant area

A 58-year-old man has been arrested by Peel Regional Police in Bracebridge after the alleged sexual assaults of girls near Davisville Avenue and Mount Pleasant Road on Nov. 24.

Peel police report the suspect was also wanted in connection with three assaults of women near Pearson International Airport later the same day.

On Friday Toronto police issued an alert they were investigating alleged sexual assaults on girls between 12 and 15 years of age in midtown.

At about 12:30 p.m., a girl, 15, was walking in the Mount Pleasant and Davisville area when she was approached by a man who sexually assaulted her and then fled the area, police said.

Between 12:20 p.m. and 1 p.m., the same man is suspected to have been responsible for additional sexual assaults, involving girls 12 to 14 years old, according to police.

Police released several images of the suspect and described him as being about 50 years old, with a thin-to-medium build, short greying hair, blue eyes, and acne scars on his face. He was wearing a dark-blue sweater and light-blue jeans.

On Saturday, Toronto police tweeted they were calling off the search after a man was arrested by Peel police.

Donald Woodland of Bracebridge is facing two counts of sexual assault and one count of assault. He was to appear in court on Saturday.

In a tweet Saturday, Toronto police said a 58-year-old suspect has been arrested by Peel police.
