Callling all East York Heros
[attach]2775[/attach]Calling all East Yorkers: The Agnes Macphail Recognition committee is seeking nominations for its 18th annual award honouring a hero in our midst.
The award’s namesake was the first woman elected to the House of Commons and the first seated in the Ontario Legislature. During her years in office, Macphail focused on issues of equal rights and social justice. Bill Pashby, former chair of the board for the Toronto East General Hospital, was the 2009 recipient.
Nominees must be a resident of East York and a contributor to community life. Nomination forms are available at public buildings in East York. Deadline for nominations is Jan. 27.
