Class resumes following drug bust near Donview Middle School

Donview Middle School students returned to class today after police investigating a nearby drug lab were forced to evacuate the school Friday morning.

Over 200 students were escorted out of the York Mills area building just hours after police executed a search warrant at 21 Evermede Drive, located across the street from the school.

Police found quantities of marijuana, cocaine, crystal meth and an “unknown liquid”, in the bungalow-style home, said Constable Tony Vella.

When investigators on scene were unable to identify the liquid, students were evacuated from the school.

“There was that potential (for danger) so they decided (to take) the necessary steps to ensure public safety,” said Vella.

Some students were picked up by their parents, while others were taken to nearby Fenside Public School.

Vella said officials from Health Canada, and other police departments were called in to help with the investigation. Four men in the home were arrested and charged with drug-related offences.
