Clear snow around fire hydrants

As snowflakes continue to fall, Toronto Fire is reminding residents and businesses to clear snow 1.2 metres around fire hydrants.

If there’s an emergency, a clear path to the fire hydrant will help firefighters respond quickly, said Toronto Fire Chief Bill Stewart in a statement.

“Keep fire hydrants clear, readily visible, and accessible for firefighting operations.”

Toronto Fire is also urging residents to be Good Samaritans by clearing walkways of snow for seniors and those with physical disabilities.

And don’t forget to keep routes clear in case emergency vehicles need to gain access on your street.
