Condo plan goes before OMB
An application for a 316-unit condominium tower at 160 Vanderhoof Ave., unanimously rejected by the Committee of adjustment’s North York panel in September, is going before the Ontario Municipal Board on March 24.
Developer Aspen Ridge is seeking to amend a former agreement to split 965 units between three towers and a series of townhouses.
The amendment would exceed the agreement’s current limit by 98 units, while units in the new tower would be an average 684 square feet — well below the 992 square feet allowed.
Ward 26 councillor John Parker, who made note of “severely undersized units” that are “not in Leaside’s best interests” in a letter opposing the application in September, said his opinion hasn’t changed.
“I think it’s entirely appropriate that we have some small units, but I hate to think of an entire condominium largely consisting of unnaturally small units,” Parker said.
Aspen Ridge representatives could not be reached for comment.
