Cop nabbed on drunk driving charge
A 26-year-old Toronto Police officer who works out of 13 Division is facing charges after being involved in an alleged drunk driving
accident on the Gardiner Expressway.
Police responded to a single-car crash east of Dufferin Street at about 4 a.m. on Dec. 2. The officer, who was off duty at the time, was arrested at the scene.
The officer is charged with impaired driving and operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level over 80.
Man arrested after sex assault: police
Police have arrested a 22-year-old Toronto man after a woman was sexually assaulted at knifepoint.
A man broke into the victim’s home near Eglinton Avenue West and Allen Road at about 8 p.m. on Nov. 29 and sexually assaulted her, police said in a release.
Several people, one of them an off-duty police officer, came to her aid when ran out of her home, with the knife-wielding man chasing her.
Police arrested a suspect shortly afterward. He faces seven charges, including assault and weapons charges.
