Cyclist struck and killed by streetcar on Queen East

A 61-year-old man died after being struck by a streetcar in Leslieville on Monday, Toronto police say.

The man was reportedly riding a bicycle eastbound on Queen Street East near Hamilton Street when he lost control of the bike, fell to the ground, and was struck by the passing streetcar.

Police responded to the call for a personal collision injury about 8:15 p.m. and the cyclist was pronounced at the scene.

The police traffic services unit is investigating. They are asking anyone with security or dash-camera footage of the area or incident to contact investigators.
